The Waiting Room.

By Leigh Fuller.

Have you ever heard something that really slaps you in the face or some remark that nearly knocks you to the floor? Well I came upon a remark the other day that caused me to ponder and gave me a reality check in my spirit.

This is it.

“This planet we call earth is just a waiting room for Hell.”

Say that again!!!!

"This planet we call earth is just a waiting room for Hell.”

One of my favorite quotes is,

“It is dangerous to die if you don’t know where you are going for Eternity.”

To us who call ourselves Christians the first statement is a shock. For we believe it is and should be;

“This planet Earth is not our home but a temperory waiting room on our way to glory with Christ in Heaven.”

We know from the Word that “the whole world lies in the grip of the evil one” {1Jn 5:19}. But the Lord has allowed us Christians to walk around on his {the Devils} turf for a good reason. We have been given the Great Commission “go into the whole world and preach the Gospel”. {Mark 16: 15}. I believe from the signs, wars, disasters, famine, flood, wild fires, tornados, earthquakes, etc that we are running out of time to “rescue the perishing, care for the dying”. Churches have become social clubs; inward looking holy huddles instead of a clone of the New Testament Church who sold all they possessed to take care of the widows and orphans both in the Church and out in the villages.

We have been given the tools necessary to stomp on the Devil’s toes; the Whole Armor of God is provided but we must take it up and appropriate it in this war for souls. Churches and their members have lost their first love, Jesus Christ, and His message. Many are preaching a social gospel, a feel good now time, conforming to the world and its message instead of conforming the world to the Church with the message of the gospel.

It should be a powerhouse of prayer and evangelism. Too many church goers manage to only dust off the Armor on Sunday morning for a couple of hours, then place it back in the closet for the rest of the week. The Word of God {the Holy Bible} in their home fares no better gathering dust on the shelf. Most Christians do not bother to take it to Church let alone have a daily devotion and feed on the Words of Life.

Seven days without prayer makes one weak. Never a truer statement. Leonard Ravenhill states that “Prayer is not just the preparation for battle; it is the battle.” If God was to pay us $10.00 per hour for our time spent in serving His Kingdom and this was our only income we would starve and have to be with the homeless in the woods.

John and Charles Wesley were accredited with saving England from a blood bath like the French Revolution. After John’s death his friends went up to his austere bedroom for the first time. There was his bookcase filled with not only his own extensive writings but many other classics, a tattered and torn Bible that had seen much use, and six silver coins one for each of his pall bearers. But then their eyes beheld two holes in his carpet at the foot of his bed where he knelt to pray. Not only was the carpet worn through but also wear marks in the floor boards themselves. Have any of us had splinters in our knees recently? I must confess my dog has left more of an impression in my carpet than my knees.

Please forgive me Lord Jesus. You deserve greater loyalty and devotion than I am giving {others also I suspect} as a reward for your suffering.

I believe time is short; souls by the million are leaving the waiting room bound for Hell while we do little to save them. The waiting room should be filled and overflowing with saved sinners waiting eagerly to leave this temporary abode, earth, bound for Eternal glory.

How many of our relatives, parents, uncles, aunts, children, good friends and neighbors are in the wrong waiting room? Speaking for myself there are too many. Even if it be one it is one too many.

How many will call out to you from Eternal damnation “Why did you not warn me about this place of torment? You were supposed to be my best friend! It is too late for me but will you send a messenger like the rich man seeing Lazarus in paradise wanted. He just wanted desperately to send someone to warn his brothers. Abraham would not but you can. Please make it an urgent mission. We know not the day or the hour when Christ comes. He comes in a twinkling of an eye. Tell my family about how Jesus Christ paid the debt of our sin when He hung on the Cross, and His precious blood washes them white, whiter than snow. GO NOW.”

If every Christian just obeyed the call and won one for Christ imagine the crowd in the waiting room for Heaven; the angels would be rejoicing, the Lamb’s Book of Life would be overflowing, Satan and his demons would be frustrated and fuming, the Father and the Son would be pleased knowing so many prodigals had come home.

Friend, will you commit to going and make a difference? The Holy Spirit will empower you. Will you help empty that waiting room where your family and friends go about their daily business without a care in the world not knowing they could be moments away from a sudden death that will take them to their final eternal destination? There to be tormented day and night in the flames that never die, and where there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth, and where the worm never dies.

If indeed you are a true friend go, go now and tell them about Jesus who has a mansion in Heaven prepared for those who trust in Him. Streets of Gold, no more pain, no more tears. Just kneeling at the scarred feet of Jesus as He holds out His nail pierced hands in welcome. Maybe when we arrive to some He will say “Well done good and faithful servant.” But alas to others He will say “Away with you “and they will plead, “Lord, Lord, did we not do this and that in your name? But He will again say “I never ever knew you, depart from Me you accursed into the everlasting fire prepared for the Devil and his angels.”

This is a message written from the heart, I myself, am the first to confess I needed a reality check from the Holy Spirit. If you know me you know I minister to the homeless in the woods around Raleigh. I spend many hours feeding them, clothing them, driving them to appointments, but am I doing enough to draw them to Jesus? Am I telling them enough about the Waiting Room for Hell? I remember the Apostle Paul crying over the Ephesians warning them day and night for three years to repent and turn to Jesus so that their blood would not be on his hands.

I remember the true story of two young Monrovian missionaries who upon hearing of the shocking conditions of slaves in the West Indies plantations applied to go to minister to them. They were told by the Plantation owners no time to stop to preach they {the slaves}had to work every day. The two then came up with the perfect plan. They sold themselves into slavery so they could live and work side by side with the slaves. They were heard to cry out from the ship as it left the harbor, “May the Lamb that was slain be rewarded for His suffering.”

Would we be prepared to go into slavery to see souls rescued from the Waiting Room for Hell?

We are asked to take up the Cross daily, but would going into slavery be too much for us; too much of a burden to bear for our Savoir, Jesus Christ!! We know we will face opposition, we will be scorned, and we will be persecuted for Christ’s sake.

Ephesians 3:14-21

“For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,[a] 15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” 20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
