Reverend Billy Graham Pastor-Preacher-Partner in the Ecumenical One World Religion. By Leigh Fuller.

There would hardly be a home or family in the USA or in fact in the majority of Christian homes worldwide who would not praise and honor Billy Graham who for over 50 years has been at the forefront of evangelism. He has been a close confident and spiritual advisor to American Presidents.

“Eisenhower and Kennedy began the tradition of consulting the evangelist, but Johnson, Nixon and Ford intensified the fashion that concluded with Bush's naming him "America’s Pastor.” http://www.time.com/time/time100/heroes/profile/graham01.html

While on his globe hopping ministry he met with virtually every countries President, Prime Minister or dictator. He met with Kings, Queens, Princes and Pope’s, no door was ever barred to his entrance. His message spread over mountains and overseas, over radio waves, TV, and satellite. Graham’s influence was far reaching.

“Graham's magazine, Decision, reaches 1.7 million people, his column appears in more than 100 newspapers, his radio program is on 700 stations worldwide, and several of his books have been best-sellers. (Angels, published in 1975, sold one million copies in just 90 days.) Graham has reportedly preached to over 200 million people and once claimed that precisely 2,874,082 of them have stepped forward to "accept Jesus Christ as personal Savior" (11/15/93, Time magazine)”. http://www.rapidnet.com/~jbeard/bdm/exposes/graham/general.htm Christian evangelist.

Born William Franklin Graham Jr. on November 7, 1918 in Charlotte, North Carolina, to parents William and Morrow Graham. Billy Graham was the first of four children raised on the family's dairy farm in Charlotte, North Carolina. In hindsight there was little indication that Graham would one day preach the Christian gospel to as many as 215 million people in live audiences over 185 countries. Graham has been credited with preaching to more individuals than anyone else in history, not counting the additional millions he has addressed through radio, television, and the written word.

When 16 years old, Graham was asked by a friend to attended a series of revival meetings run by evangelist Mordecai Ham. Graham was a well-behaved adolescent, but Ham's sermons on sin spoke to young Graham. He graduated from high school in May 1936 and attended Bob Jones College in the fall. He switched to Florida Bible Institute after only one semester, siting he did not like the strict discipline.

Graham graduated from the Florida Bible Institute with a bachelor's in theology, and this is where Satan sowed the first seed of ecumenicalism.

He notes in his biography that “one thing that thrilled me [about Florida Bible Institute] was the diversity of viewpoints we were exposed to in the classroom, a wondrous blend of ecumenical and evangelical thought that was really ahead of its time” (Graham, Just As I Am, p. 46).

Graham enrolled at Wheaton College to finish his Theological training. Here he would meet his future wife, Ruth McCue Bell, Graham and Bell were married on August 13, 1943.

The compromise began as early as 1944; Billy Graham was befriended by one of the most influential Catholic leaders in America, Fulton Sheen. When Sheen died in December 1979, Graham testified that he had “known him as a friend for over 35 years” (Religious News Service, Dec. 11, 1979). Fulton Sheen died a faithful son of Rome. Did his friend of 35 years try to convert Sheen to save him from the everlasting fires of Hell? Only Eternity will tell.

“At that time [March 1950], Protestantism in New England was weak, due in part to theological differences within some denominations, the influence of Unitarian ideas in other denominations, and the strength of the Roman Catholic Church. In spite of all that, a number of Roman Catholic priests and Unitarian clergy, together with some of their parishioners, came to the meetings along with those from Evangelical churches. With my limited Evangelical background, this was a further expansion of my own ecumenical outlook. I now began to make friends among people from many different backgrounds and to develop a spiritual love for their clergy” (Graham, Just As I Am, p. 167).

In 1947 Billy Graham became president of Northwestern Schools, a group of Christian schools in Minnesota he focused on Northwestern Schools until 1952, when he resigned to concentrate on preaching.

In 1949, a group called "Christ for Greater Los Angeles" invited Graham to preach at their L.A. revival. The publicity filled Graham's tents and extended the revival for an additional five weeks. As a consequence, Graham became a Christian superstar.

With Graham's success, BGEA opened numerous international offices and started publishing periodicals, records, tapes, films, and books. BGEA also accepted invitations from religious figures around the world to hold evangelical "crusades." BGEA also acquired several radio stations around America in an effort to broadcast Graham's radio shows to a wider audience.

While Billy crusaded for Christ all over the world, I am sure the Devil wanted his message to cease and his squeaky clean character to be tarnished by scandal as has many of the other Tele evangelists BUT.

“… there have been no scandals, financial or sexual, to darken Graham's mission. His sincerity, transparent and convincing, cannot be denied. He is an icon essential to a country in which, for two centuries now, religion has been not the opiate but the poetry of the people.", http://www.time.com/time/time100/heroes/profile/graham01.html

So the Devil had to look for other means to discredit and deceive this man of God. Much has been made of Graham being a 33 degree High Mason but I think the most damaging evidence can be found in another direction. I will trace his falling away from the foundational Biblical truth’s in the ministry of Rev. Billy Graham.

In 1949 W.B. Riley, who was one of the great stalwarts of the Fundamentalist movement in the Northern Convention, he was the man that raised the standard of truth in the Northern Convention. He founded the North Western School, and when he looked for a successor, he appointed Billy Graham his successor, as President of the North Western School. He said he appointed Graham because he was a Fundamentalist “opposed to Modernism and Romanism and Communism.”

1948. Graham said, 'The three greatest menaces faced by orthodox Christianity are Communism, Roman Catholicism and Mohamedanism'. (Plains Baptist Challenger, July 1977). May 28th

1978 in the Japanese newspaper 'Mainichi Daily News' Graham said, 'I think communism's appeal to youth is its structure and promise of a future utopia. Mao Tse-Tung's eight precepts are basically the same as the Ten Commandments. In fact if we can't have the Ten Commandments read in the schools I'll settle for Mao's precepts'.

The following statement should hit you right between the eyes and make you say “I cannot believe what I am reading.”

In "I Cant’ Play God Any More,” McCall’s, Jan. 1978. p. 158 Graham said,“I’ve found that my beliefs are essentially the same as those of orthodox Roman Catholics, for instance....We only differ on some matters of later church tradition”

This was not the beginning of the downhill slide in Billy’s Theology, it began at least 20 years previous to the above statement.

In 1952 from the Pittsburgh Sun Telegraph of September 6: "Many of the people who reach a decision for Christ at our meetings have joined the Catholic church."

1957, San Francisco News, November 11:"Even if the penitents are non-Protestant they are referred to the church of their choice." San Francisco is a heavily concentrated Roman Catholic city. "Anyone who makes a decision at our meeting is seen later and referred to a local clergyman--Protestant, Catholic or Jewish."

Why would a Christian Evangelist preaching the true Gospel of Christ send new Christians back to the Catholic Church, the largest cult on the planet? One would have to believe from the previous statements, that even in his early crusades his mission had been compromised and the Devil had his foot in the door.

Now from this point forward I think he{The Devil} has an arm and a leg and foot in the ministry of Billy Graham.

1963: "I admire Pope John [XXIII] tremendously. I felt he brought a new era to the world" Chicago Tribune, June 8, 1963).

Oct. 29th 1963 Dr. Graham admitted to the 'Daily Journal' of International Falls, Minn., that at a Graham Crusade in San Paulo Brazil that the Roman Catholic Bishop stood beside him and blessed the converts as they came forward. Graham said that this illustrated 'something tremendous, an awakening of reform and revival within Christianity' was happening." ('New York Times' Nov. 9th, 1963).

1966: "I find myself closer to Catholics than the radical Protestants. I think the Roman Catholic Church today is going through a second Reformation" (Evening Bulletin, Philadelphia, May 24, 1966).

Belmont Abbey College is a well-known academic Catholic institution of the Church of Rome in North Carolina, and known throughout all the United States. Billy Graham was invited to come that they might present him with an honorary doctorate. Graham accepted the invitation. The Gastonian Gazette of November 22, 1967, reported in full what he said.

"Dr. Graham, what gospel do you preach? Here is his answer:

"The gospel that built this school and the gospel that brings me here tonight is still the way of salvation."

1977: In Manila, the Philippines, Graham said, "We have received wondrous support from the Catholic Church" (Christianity Today, Dec. 30, 1977).

By 1978 the Devil had overturned the Gospel of Christ in the Rev Graham’s message and replaced it with the Gospel according to Rome.

1978: "I found that my beliefs are essentially the same as those of orthodox Catholics." What do you think of that? He says, "We only differ on some matters of later church tradition. I find that my beliefs are essentially the same as those of orthodox Roman Catholics" (McCall's, Jan. 1978).

The quote below shows that by this time Billy Graham is more or less a spokesman for the Pope.

In 1980 he wrote an article which appeared in the Saturday Evening Post (Jan.-Feb. 1980). He said: "Pope John Paul II is one of the greatest moral and spiritual leaders of this century. He is an evangelist." You did not know the Pope was an evangelist. Well, Billy Graham tells you he is an evangelist. He says: "He has sought to speak to the spiritual hunger of our age in the same way Christians throughout the centuries have spoken to the spiritual yearning of every age." And how has he done it? Billy Graham says he has done it by pointing people to Christ. The Pope is a great evangelist who points people to Christ!”

Rev Billy Graham thinks the Catholic Mass is "beautiful". Graham said, "This past week I preached in the great Catholic Cathedral a funeral sermon for a close friend of mine who was a Catholic, and they had several Bishops and Archbishops to participate, and as I sat there going through the funeral Mass that was a very beautiful thing, and certainly straight and clear in the gospel." That was Billy Graham at the Mass, and he went on to say, "There was a wonderful little priest that would tell me when to stand and when to kneel and what to do." So Billy Graham was kneeling before the Mass wafer, and he said it is clear in the gospel and that the Mass ceremony was a very beautiful thing.(Billy Graham, Church League of America, p. 84 & 'Billy Graham' by L.L. Bynum Lubbock. Texas).

This is what Catholics do in the Mass. The priest holds up the wafer and literally commands the Lord Jesus to come into it. They simple Priests command the Lord God of Heaven and Earth and the wafer becomes the body of Christ with His entire embodiment. They crucify Him over and over; “It is not finished” according to Rome. The same applies to the wine; to them it actually becomes the spilt blood of Christ. Is this a beautiful thing? It is certainly not what the Apostles or the early Church fathers taught, they believed it only represented the body and the blood of Christ.

Roman Catholic authorities allowed Graham to preach in their cathedrals. Four of the rallies were held in Catholic churches, with priests participating on the platform with Graham. Masses were conducted immediately before and after the rallies. In his remarks at Catholic churches, Graham praised the greatness of Pope Paul VI (Christianity Today, Nov. 3, 1978). Cardinal Karol Wojtyla, soon to be Pope John Paul II, offered his 700-year-old St. Anne’s Church in Cracow. Wojtyla had intended to meet Graham for tea, but as it turned out, just before Graham’s arrival in Poland, Wojtyla was unexpectedly called away to the conclave in Rome to meet with the College of Cardinals, and a few days later he was elected Pope. Wojtyla’s plane was at the end of the runway, ready to take off for Rome, as Graham’s plane touched down in Warsaw.

In 1981 Billy Graham had a long meeting with the Pope. He said: "It was very private. It was very intimate.", He said, "The Pope was extremely warm and interested in our work."

Rev Billy Graham is the Pope's spiritual brother?

In 1989 Graham spoke further in the Today newspaper of June 8, and he said this about the Pope: "There was a pause in the conversation, suddenly the Pope's arm shot out and he grabbed the lapels of my coat, he pulled me forward within inches of his own face. He fixed his eye on me and said, `Listen, Graham, we are brothers.'" We are brothers! Graham said that was a great happening in his life, when the Pope took him by the lapels, pulled him into his cheek and said, "We are brothers."

An Interview with Midwest Today, (January 1997) called A Conversation with Billy Graham asked one question and the answer was...

Q. You talked about emphasizing more the love and mercy of God in the later years of your ministry. Can you tell us a little bit about how that applies to people of other faiths?

A. Well, you know when I was growing up and after I came to Christ in the beginning of my life and went to school, I didn't know much about Catholics; I didn't know much about Lutherans; and people who were more ritualistic in their worship.

Through the years I have been thrown [together] with them and have a great many friends in the Roman Catholic Church. In fact, when we go to a city now nearly all of the Roman Catholic churches support it. When we went to Minneapolis for the crusade -- St. Paul, which is next door joined with Minneapolis, it’s largely Catholic and Minneapolis is largely Lutheran -- they all supported the crusade, which wouldn't have happened 25 years ago. But it does today. The same is true with the Eastern Orthodox churches, because when I went to Russia, long before Communism fell, I was the guest of the Orthodox Church." http://www.midtod.com/9612/billygraham.phtml

He believes the Late Pope John Paul Went To Heaven. Billy Graham said the late Pope was “the most influential voice for morality and peace in the world in the last 100 years.”

Larry King: “There is no question in your mind that he is with God now?”

Graham: “Oh, no. There may be a question about my own, but I don't think Cardinal Wojtyla, or the Pope -- I think he’s with the Lord, because he believed. He believed in the cross. That was his focus throughout his ministry, the cross, no matter if you were talking to him from personal issue or an ethical problem; he felt that there was the answer to all of our problems, the cross and the resurrection. And he was a strong believer.” Larry King Live aired April 2, 2005

The Billy Graham Crusade has always referred Catholic converts through his ministry back to the Catholic Church starting as early as 1957. Why would a “born again” evangelist do this knowing that the Catholic Church is apostate and a forerunner to the One World Church out of which the False Prophet will rise?

How much involvement has the local Catholic Parishes had in the Crusades? To give you some idea here are but a few.

In 1983, The Florida Catholic (Sept. 2, 1983) reported of the Orlando crusade: “Names of Catholics who had made decisions for Christ were provided at that meeting by Rick Marshall of the Graham organization.” The report said the names of 600 people had been turned over to the Catholic Church.

In 1984, at the Vancouver, British Columbia crusade, the vice-chairman of the organizing committee, David Cline of Bringhouse United Church, said, “If a Catholic steps forward there will be no attempt to convert them and their names will be given to the Catholic church nearest their homes” (Vancouver Sun, Oct. 5, 1984).

In 1987 a Catholic priest, Donald Willette of St. Jude’s Church, was a supervisor of the counselors for the Denver crusade. Willette reported that from one service alone 500 cards of individuals were referred to St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church in Englewood, a suburb of Denver (Wilson Ewin, Evangelism: The Trojan Horse of the 1990s).

In 1989, Michael Seed, Ecumenical Advisor to (Catholic) Cardinal Hume, said of Graham’s London crusade: “Those who come forward for counseling during a Mission evening in June, if they are Roman Catholic, will be directed to a Roman Catholic ‘nurture-group’ under Roman Catholic counselors in their home area” (John Ashbrook, New Neutralism II, p. 35).

June 27-30, 2002: Billy Graham’s crusade in Cincinnati, Ohio, June 27-30, 2002, included full participation of the Roman Catholic Church. In preparation for the crusade, five Catholic parishes -- Our Lady of Lourdes in Westwood, Our Lady of the Rosary in Greenhills, Our Lady of the Rosary and Guardian Angels in Cincinnati, and Trinity Center in Dayton -- presented week-long courses to prepare Catholic counselors to deal with those who came forward in response to Graham’s invitations.

According to Curtis Kneblik, assistant director of evangelization for the Roman Catholic archdiocese of Dayton, invitations were sent out to 9,000 Catholics to request their participation in this training, and hundreds responded. Priest Charles Bowes told his parish that the Graham mission was a “golden opportunity to evangelize Catholics and to help our parish…” (The Catholic Telegraph, May 10, 2002).

November 2004: The Billy Graham organization preparing for the crusade in Los Angeles, California, promised the Roman Catholic archdiocese that Catholics will not be “proselytized.” A letter from Cardinal Roger Mahony, dated October 6, 2004, and posted at the archdiocese web site, stated:

“When the Crusade was held in other locations, many Catholics responded to Dr. Graham’s message and came forward for Christ. Crusade officials expect the same for the Los Angeles area. These officials have assured me that, IN KEEPING WITH DR. GRAHAM’S BELIEF AND POLICY, THERE WILL BE NO PROSELYTIZING, AND THAT ANYONE IDENTIFYING HIM OR HERSELF AS CATHOLIC WILL BE REFERRED TO US for reintegration into the life of the Catholic Church. We must be ready to welcome them.”, Billy Graham's Disobedience To The Word Of God. http://www.wayoflife.org/fbns/fbns/fbns15.html

A well documented book by Dr Cathy Burns reveals that Billy Graham removed the warnings concerning Roman Catholicism from his own Crusade Edition of the Halley’s Bible Handbook. “The original Halley’s up until the 22nd edition (1959), warned about the Jesuits. There are chapters about the Roman Papacy, and the Jesuits. According to Mrs. Halley, Mr. Halley spent years working on those chapters and never would have permitted the book to be changed. However when he died, Billy Graham bought the rights, and removed all the research and warning about the Jesuits in the editions Billy Graham printed.” [Billy Graham and His Friends: A Hidden Agenda? By Dr Cathy Burns, page 440, Published by Sharing]

I have the original Halley Bible Handbook in my possession and also a signed copy of the Billy Graham Crusade version where it has been deleted.

This last statement should blow away anyone’s adoration for the man and the message of Rev Billy Graham.

'I used to think that pagans in far-off countries were lost -- were going to hell -- if they did not have the Gospel of Jesus Christ preached to them. I NO LONGER BELIEVE THAT ... I believe there are other ways of recognizing the existence of God -- through nature, for instance -- and plenty of other opportunities, therefore, of saying yes to God." I Cant’ Play God Any More. McCall’s, January, 1978

While I have to believe that Rev Graham began his early ministry as a true convert of the Lord Jesus Christ and proclaimed the True Gospel there must have a moment when the Devil sowed the seed of deception and little by little it matured until when questioned by Larry King in April 2, 2005 about his salvation he could only say “Oh, no. There may be a question about my own, but I don't think Cardinal Wojtyla, or the Pope -- I think he’s with the Lord, because he believed.

Conclusion.

Timmy Brister. The Billy Graham School of Ecumenism. http://timmybrister.com

“I applaud Graham for his integrity through the years, his passion to preach, and his humility which has exuded from his interactions with other people. By far, he is one of the most respected men in the world. Yet, all that does not excuse him from his recent comments nor does it eclipse the glaring problems with his theology and methodology. I know it sounds like I am coming down hard, but I believe there are certain issues and certain times when it is necessary. As I have stated, my admiration for him on the areas I mentioned still stand while I strongly disagree with him on some of the most essential, non-negotiable matters of the Christian faith. This is one case where moderation simple won’t stand”.

2 Cor 11: 13-15. “For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ? And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.”

What should we do now? Billy Graham is in his twilight years with maybe a few more before his soul leaves this planet. We must pray that he reconciles his past mistakes to a merciful God, seek forgiveness for misleading so many thousands astray from the True Gospel into an apostate Church of Rome. He will have no excuse if he does not as he has been warned by many faithful servants of the Lord. Graham was warned repeatedly by prominent Christian leaders such as Bob Jones, Sr., John R. Rice, Robert Shuler, G. Archer Weniger, James Bennet, Carl McIntire, Bryce Augsburger, Charles Woodbridge, and Robert Ketcham.

The One World Church is drawing many evangelicals into the fold, Pat Robinson, Robert Schuller, Jack Van Impe, and many others have kissed the Pope's ring.If they were true disciples of Christ they should be warning the flock but are instead ravenous wolves tearing the flock apart and living on the fat of the lambs of Christ.

The old time preachers like John and Charles Wesley, John Withfield, and Spurgeon shouted from the pulpits warnings about the “whore of Babylon.” Why is it not done today?

For further excellent information on the Roman Catholic Church and it's place in the endtimes apostasy go to Dave Hunts site and watch the DVD A Woman rides the Beast

“It is impossible but that the Church of Rome must spread, when we who are the watchdogs of the fold are silent, and others are gently and smoothly turfing the road, and making it as soft and smooth as possible, that converts may travel down to the nethermost hell of Popery. We want John Knox back again. Do not talk to me of mild and gentle men, of soft manners and squeamish words, we want the fiery Knox, and even though his vehemence should ‘ding our pulpits into blads,’{in English means break it into slivers of wood.} it were well if he did but rouse our hearts to action” (C.H. Spurgeon, Sermons, Vol. 10, pgs. 322-3).

2 Timothy 2:24-26 “And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, in meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; and that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.”
